ONGC Scholarship 2025

The ONGC Scholarship 2025, offered by the ONGC Foundation, aims to support meritorious students from economically weaker sections of society who are pursuing professional courses like Engineering, MBBS, MBA, and Master’s degrees in Geophysics or Geology.

The scholarship provides ₹48,000 per annum to selected candidates to help cover their educational expenses.

A significant feature of this scholarship is that 50% of the scholarships are reserved for female candidates to promote women’s empowerment through education.

Scholarship Details:

Financial Assistance: ₹48,000 per year to cover tuition fees and other educational costs.
Eligibility: Open to students from SC/ST/OBC and General (Economically Weaker Sections – EWS) categories.
Courses Covered: First-year students of Engineering, MBBS, MBA, and Master’s in Geophysics/Geology.
Merit-Based: Selection is based on academic performance in the qualifying examinations (Class 12 for undergraduate courses and graduation for postgraduate courses). In case of a tie in marks, preference is given to students with lower family income, and further preference to those from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families.
Gender Equality: 50% of the scholarships are reserved for female candidates.
All India Coverage: Students from all states and union territories of India are eligible to apply.

Eligibility Criteria:

Nationality: Must be an Indian citizen.
Academic Qualification:
- For Engineering and MBBS: Minimum 60% marks in Class 12.
- For MBA and Master’s in Geophysics/Geology: Minimum 60% marks or a CGPA/OGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale in graduation.
Family Income:
- For General and OBC category students: Gross annual family income should not exceed ₹2,00,000.
- For SC/ST category students: Gross annual family income should not exceed ₹4,50,000.
Age Limit: Maximum 30 years as of August 1, 2024 (This is the age limit mentioned in the 2024-25 notifications and is likely to be similar for 2025).
Course of Study: Must be a regular, full-time student in the first year of the eligible professional courses at an AICTE/UGC/MCI/State University/State Education Board/Central University/Central Government recognized institution.
Other Scholarships: Candidates should not be receiving any other scholarship or financial assistance from any other source. However, fee waivers or reimbursements from state governments for tuition fees are acceptable.

Application Process (Based on previous year’s information, the process for 2025 is expected to be similar):

Visit the ONGC Scholarship Portal: The application is usually submitted online through the official ONGC Scholarship portal: https://www.ongcscholar.org/
Register: If you are a new user, you will need to register on the portal.
Fill the Application Form: Provide all the required details accurately in the online application form.
Upload Documents: Scan and upload the necessary documents, which typically include:
- Passport-size photograph.
- Class 12 marksheet (for undergraduate courses).
- Graduation marksheet (for postgraduate courses).
- Proof of admission to the first year of the current course.
- Caste certificate (if applicable).
- Income certificate from a competent authority.
- Age proof (e.g., birth certificate, Class 10 marksheet).
- Bank account details (in the prescribed format).
- PAN card copy.
- Aadhaar card or other identity proof.
Submit the Application: After filling in all the details and uploading the documents, submit the application online.
Send Hard Copies (as per previous years’ instructions): In the past, applicants were also required to send hard copies of the completed application form along with attested copies of the supporting documents to the designated ONGC office. The address would be mentioned in the application form instructions.

Important Notes:

Applicants must not be receiving any other scholarship or financial aid while applying for the ONGC Scholarship.
The scholarship amount is directly deposited into the student’s bank account through the ECS facility.
Selection is based on academic merit and financial need. In case of a tie, preference is given to students from families with lower annual income.
